to receive a SEC general volunteer application. Please specify if you are interested in becoming a peer counsellor in your email and you will be sent an additional application to fill out. We are also looking to fill the following program coordinator positions:

- Internal Social Coordinator
- Director of Advocacy
- Expansion Researcher
- Event Coordinators
- External Education Presenters
- Promotions Coordinator

To be eligible for any of the coordinator positions above, you will be required to fill out a general volunteer form (and indicate which position(s) you are interested in applying for) and to attend all 3 days of training (September 26th-28th). Following training we will conduct an interview and select the most qualified applicant.
Job Descriptions
Peer Counsellors
Position Description
The UTM Sexual Education and Peer Counselling Centre (UTM SEC) is looking for dedicated, open-minded, and non-judgmental peer counsellors. Counsellors hold office hours throughout the week (3 hours per week) to provide support to students coming into the centre for information, condoms, and guidance. Our counselling program aims to offer peer-to-peer support; this means we are not clinical counsellors and do not offer repeated, regular counseling or crisis counselling. Our counsellors are trained to provide support on a variety of issues- STI prevention, birth control, crisis issues, relationship matters, LGBTQ issues, and lots more.
This year, the content will be split in two distinct streams. Half our counsellors will be trained in sexual health/STI prevention issues, and the others, in relationship issues. Ideal candidates are responsible, mature, trustworthy individuals with excellent communication skills. Upper year students are especially encouraged to apply.

for a general application form and hand it into the SEC office before September 24th, 2008, indicating which stream they’d like to specialize in. Applicants then come to mandatory training on Friday, September 26th, and also on September 27th or 28th, depending on their chosen area of specialty. After training, successful candidates will be contacted and start their office hours in the following week.
Duties Include:
-Holding office hours each week (2-3 hours), providing support and resources to UTM community
-Attending training on September 26th, and either the 27th or 28th
-Keeping the office clean and welcoming
1. Party Patrol Coordinator
Position Description
The Party Patrol Coordinator will be in charge of UTM SEC’s Party Patrol program, which aims to promote responsibility at UTM’s social events by sending representatives to offer condoms at such events when requested. The PP Coordinator will work closely along with SEC’s executive team to assure the administration of the program at events like Sex Pub and Frosh Pub.

-Meet with Executive team occasionally to plan when the party patrol will appear at events
-Attend selected events and administer condoms
2. Librarian
Position Description
UTM SEC’s librarian will be in charge of maintaining the sexology library. This includes organizing it, answering student questions about books, and keeping other volunteers up-to-date on the sign-out process. The Librarian will report to the Office Manager. The ideal candidate will be a responsible, detail oriented, self-motivated individual.

-Maintaining the SEC library
-Reporting to the Office Manager

3. Internal Social Coordinator
Position Description
UTM SEC holds a variety of social events throughout the year for our volunteers. These include two official socials, and a number of unofficial, smaller get-togethers to strengthen and motivate our team. We’re looking for an energetic, creative, self-motivated individual, preferably with experience in team management and event planning.

-Meetings with Volunteer Coordinator to plan events
-Organizing and recruiting a social committee and holding meetings with them
-Planning and implementing events with the help of the committee and executive team
-Communication with the rest of the SEC team regarding social events.
4. Director of Advocacy
Position Description
UTM SEC believes in embracing all aspects and diverse expressions of human sexuality. We’re looking for an open-minded, self-motivated and professional individual to act as a liaison with other advocacy organizations on campus, such as OUT@UTM. Duties would also include working with the executives on ways to reach out to different groups on campus, and implementing these initiatives.

5. Expansion Researcher
Position Description
UTM SEC is actively looking for opportunities for expansion, both within the campus and within the field of sexual education. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, self-motivated, dependable and enthusiastic student to help us carry out research and explore avenues for expansion.

-Designing and implementing surveys for our campus
-Working with other sexual education centres
-Helping coordinate a networking project with other campus centres
6. Event Coordinators
Position Description
UTM SEC puts on several large-scale events during the year. We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated and reliable individuals with experience in event planning to help coordinate two of our most important events: the World Aids Gala and Sex Pub.

7. External Education Presenters
Position Description
UTM SEC is seeking several outgoing, dedicated individuals who are passionate about sexual health education for its external education committee. This committee is in charge of SEC’s presentations and workshops throughout the year, providing information on a variety of subjects, including safe sex and sex toys. In the past, workshops have taken place during Sex and U Week, and for Residence communities. Preference will be given to applicants with strong public speaking abilities.

-Regular meetings with the rest of the committee, reporting to the External Education Director
-Participate in additional training and workshops specific to this role
-Facilitate workshops and activities for different campus groups
-Act as an ambassador at any SEC-related events
8. Promotions Coordinator
Position Description
As a part of SEC’s efforts to increase our visibility on campus, we are seeking a creative, resourceful, dependable individual to assist the Advertising Director with the conception, planning, and implementation of different new marketing initiatives. Applicants with photography skills and equipment are preferred.
